Semi-Marathon de Paris 2014

Sunday, March 2nd 2014.
This half-marathon is my new challenge. Inspired by my travel buddy from summer 2013 and another friend, we decided to take the plunge and sign up for the half marathon. Another plus is of course Paris. I live in the Netherlands, so this will be a double check on my bucketlist: run a half marathon + in another country!

I need to start training and run more than my personal "record" of 6km at this moment. That 21.2km will be one fat joke if I don't get off my lazy bum aka impossible to run. If there are any others who (are starting to) run for fun, health, goals like these or just a combination of these of course: good luck! We can do this and give our best shot:

“We all have dreams, in order to make dreams come into reality, it takes an awful lot of determination, dedication, self-discipline and effort.”

“Remember, the feeling you get from a good run is far better than the feeling you get from sitting around wishing you were running.”

Wanderlust

That picture was taken this summer 2013, when I saw life from a lot of different perspectives. Travelling on trains for three weeks through Europe brought my friend and I closer than ever. We were friends for about half a year, but decided to both take the plunge and travel together. Now we know our pet peeves, weird traits, but also share the special small moments that we will always cherish from this summer. I will never forget the long talk at the gondola bay in Venice where we sat for more than 3 hours just talking and seeing the sun set. Or that breathtaking view at Lake Bled in Slovenia every morning for 4 days...

We saw and met so many new people in hostels, on the street when we were looking for places to eat (cheaply) and on the trains of course. There are so many things happening all at once whilst travelling; it brings out the curious part of you, the adventurous side and a thoughtful side. I discovered new sides of the world, new cultures and all kinds of people but most importantly I saw a change in myself.

Appreciate the opportunity to travel, to explore the world and to discover yourself. Life is all about what you make it yourself.
